Carbamid + VAS Widmer is used in adults (aged 18 and over) in severe cases of ichthyosis (ichthyosis, so-called "fish scale disease"), cornification disorders on the hands and feet, and warts.
The cream is only intended for external use.
The main active ingredient of Carbamide + VAS Widmer, tretinoin, accelerates the cell formation of the skin and thus has a slightly peeling effect.
The urea softens and also flakes off the excessively calloused skin. It increases the skin's ability to bind water.
The panthenol has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching effects.
When should Carbamid + VAS Widmer not be used?
The Carbamid + VAS Widmer must not be used:
- with known hypersensitivity to one of the active ingredients or excipients.
- for rosacea, acute eczema and acute inflammation of the skin.
- if you are pregnant (see “Can Carbamide + VAS Widmer be used during pregnancy or when breastfeeding?”).
- if you are planning to become pregnant.
When should you be careful when using Carbamide + VAS Widmer?
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In the event of accidental contact with the mucous membranes (mouth, nostrils), eyes and / or eyelids, the affected areas must be carefully rinsed with water.
The areas of skin treated with Carbamid + VAS Widmer must not be exposed to strong sunlight (such as sunlamps and solariums).
Do not use peeling agents for external use such as resorcinol, salicylic acid etc. at the same time.
Apply Carbamid + VAS Widmer only to the affected skin areas. Do not apply the cream to existing wounds or damaged skin.
The auxiliary substance propylene glycol contained in Carbamid + VAS Widmer can cause skin irritation. The antioxidants butylated hydroxyanisole (E 320) and butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321) can cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and the mucous membranes.
The use of Carbamide + VAS Widmer in children and adolescents is not recommended.
Women of childbearing potential should only use Carbamide + VAS Widmer if they are also using a safe method of contraception (see “Can Carbamide + VAS Widmer be used during pregnancy or when breastfeeding?”).
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking or using other medicines (including those you have bought yourself!).
Can Carbamid + VAS Widmer be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Do not use Carbamid + VAS Widmer if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Your doctor can provide more information.
Women of childbearing potential should use reliable contraception during treatment.
Tell your doctor if you want to become pregnant. Treatment with Carbamide + VAS Widmer should be stopped one month before a planned pregnancy.
If you become pregnant unplanned during treatment with Carbamide + VAS Widmer, you must stop the treatment and inform your doctor as soon as possible.
Carbamid + VAS Widmer must not be used during breastfeeding.
How do you use Carbamid + VAS Widmer?
As a crème, Carbamid + VAS Widmer may only be used externally.
Adults (from 18 years)
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, apply the cream 1-2 times a day to well-cleansed skin and massage it in thoroughly. When treating warts, it is advisable to soak them in warm water beforehand.
Do not change the prescribed dosage on your own. If you think that the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
What side effects can Carbamid + VAS Widmer have?
The following side effects can occur when using Carbamide + VAS Widmer:
Occasionally, skin irritation such as burning, reddening, itching and flaking may occur.
In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions may occur and skin pigmentation may be reduced.
If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist.
